2010 Points Series Format

Cancellation due to weather will be posted on ALQMA website by 12:00 noon for night point races, Day Races will be canceled by 7:00 a.m.

All Points Races will cost $20 per car for both members and non-members

Trophies will not be awarded on Points Race nights, only at the end of season. Novices will not run for points (see below)

Sign-in times for day races are 9:30 - 10:30 and night point races will be 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. with qualifying to follow

Packing of the track and hot laps may begin any time after sign-ins open at 3:00 p.m. at Track Directors discression. Drivers must be signed in to pack the track and hot lap.

Race order format will be - Jr. Novice, Sr. Novice, Jr. Honda, Sr. Honda, Hvy. Honda, Jr. Stock, Sr. Stock, Lt. Mod, Hvy. Mod, Lt. B, Hvy B, Lt. AA, Hvy. AA, Lt. 160, Hvy. 160, World Formula, Jr. Half. Race Director may change order if necessary.

Qualifying order will be determined by pill draw. If 2 or more drivers qualify with the same qualifying time, the starting position will be granted to the driver with the lowest pill draw with the other/next driver with the next higher pill draw number to start in the next starting position.

Late sign-ins will be allowed to qualify; however they will start at the tail of the lowest main.

If a car and/or driver is not ready to qualify at its time to qualify, the car will not be allowed to qualify and will automatically be moved to the last qualifying time.

During a qualifying attempt, if there is an error in the timing light, a flagman error, or a tower error where the lap times for the white and checkered flag laps are not obtained, the car qualifying will be red flagged and stopped on track where the handler may choose to either:
        
        a - Choose to start the qualifying attempt over, i.e. (warm-up, green, white, checkered flag laps) where timings         occur on white flag and checkered flag lap or

        b - if only one lap time is needed, driver may retain original lap time and receive a warm-up, green, and checkered         flags) where the lap time will be taked on checkered flag lap.

The top four qualifiers for Juniors and top five qualifiers for Seniors will automatically be locked into the A-main. Best Qualfiying time will start in 1st position, 2nd best qualifying time in 2nd position, etc.

Drivers qualifying in positions 5-8 / 6-10 will start in order they qualified in the B-Main, 9-12 / 11-15 in the C-main, etc.

The top four drivers for Juniors and top five drivers for Seniors finishing in each main will move to the next main in finishing order.

Driver must attempt to race in heats, and or, until failing to make "A" feature to qualify to receive points. A driver cannot just qualify and leave event receiving points.

If there are any ties in points at the end of the season trophies will be awarded as a tie at that position and will skip the next position. Example: Tie for 3rd place, two 3rd place trophies will be awarded and the next trophy will be for 5th place.

In the event of a rain-out after qualifying, race points will be awarded based on qualifying results, i.e. fast qualifier will receive 1st place points, 2nd fast will received 2nd place points, etc.

Laps - Novice will run 15 lap lower mains and 20 lap A-Mains. Juniors and Seniors will run 25 lap lower mains and 30 lap A-Mains.

There will be a 15 minute time limit for lower mains and a 20 minute time limit on A-Mains.

Races that are not completed by the 11 p.m. curfew will receive race points determined by qualifying position.

There will be one throw away race where four out of the five races will count towards the final points. Drivers must run 4 of 5 races to be eligible to receive a points series trophy at the year end awards banquet.  Novices must run 3 of 5 races to receive a novice trophy at the year end awards banquet.

NOVICES
Novices will not run a Points Series since novice class is not considered to be a competitive class, but a learning class.  Novices placing first, second, or third at Points Races will receive trophies that night. Heat win trophies will be given out. All novice drivers who did not place first, second, or third will receive a participation award.

POINTS BREAKDOWN
There will be no qualifying points award for the 2009 ALQMA Points Series.

Race Points - A Main winner will receive 100 points and the following positions will receive 3 less points as shown in the link above. The driver must attempt to race in order to receive race points.
